FINANCIAL SUPPORT
The activities of SOS Children's Villages are funded mainly through private donations. There are many ways in which you can support SOS Children's Villages financially.
Donations: The many small donations received form the financial basis of SOS Children's Village work. Over six million friends of SOS Children's Villages worldwide make regular or occasional donations. However frequent and however large, every donation is meaningful. All regular donors are informed about the work of SOS Children's Villages through illustrated quarterly magazines.
Sponsorships: You can sponsor an individual SOS Children's Village child or an SOS Children's Village or some other SOS Children's Village facility. In that case your regular sponsorship payments are earmarked for the daily maintenance costs of your foster child and his or her SOS Children's Village family, or for the running costs or construction costs of the facility concerned.
Legacies and testamentary gifts: Depending on the amount, your contribution will for example be used to build or furnish a family house, create a playground or purchase school equipment.
NON-FINANCIAL SUPPORT

ACCOUNTABILITY
SOS Children's Villages are financed primarily through private donations. The money received is used exclusively for the global SOS Children's Villages work.
In order to reduce costs, all expenditures are handled by the SOS Children's Village Associations themselves. In the case of major spending requirements, the umbrella organisation, SOS-Kinderdorf International applies rigorous financial controls.
Another of SOS-Kinderdorf International's tasks is to ensure that administration costs are kept as low as possible by all SOS Children's Village associations. Accounts and balance sheets of all SOS Children's Village associations are the subject of exacting internal and external audits.
All activities are punctiliously monitored by the organisation's Finance Department and by internationally recognised auditors.Both internal and external controls do not only verify that all income and expenditure is properly accounted for, but also ensure that the principles of economy, efficiency and effectiveness are observed in all procedures. These measures enable SOS-Kinderdorf International to direct money where it is most needed.
